Lattice QCD at finite isospin chemical potential and temperature

چکیده
We simulate lattice QCD at a finite chemical potential μI for isospin (I3) at zero and finite temperatures. At some μI = μc QCD has a second order transition with mean-field critical exponents to a state where (I3) is broken spontaneously by a charged pion condensate. Heating the system with μI > μc we find there is some temperature at which this condensate evaporates. This transition appears to be second order and mean-field at lower μI values, and first order for μI sufficiently large. We are determining the dependence of the finite temperature crossover Tc on μI for μI < μc. This is expected to be identical to Tc’s dependence on quark-number chemical potential μq for small μq .

Lattice QCD at finite isospin density
Nuclear matter has finite baryon number density, finite (negative) isospin density and, under certain conditions, finite (negative) strangeness density. Since having a finite chemical potential for baryon number makes the fermion determinant complex and simulations intractable, we restrict ourselves to zero baryon-number chemical potential. QCD at finite chemical potential μI for isospin (I3) a...

We study quenched QCD at finite chemical potential, μI , for the third component of isospin and quenched two-colour QCD at finite chemical potential, μ, for quark number. In contrast to the quenched approximation to QCD at finite quark-number chemical potential, the quenched approximations to these theories behave similarly to the full theories. The reason is that these theories have real posit...
متن کاملQCD at finite isospin density: from pion to quark-antiquark condensation
QCD at finite isospin chemical potential μI is studied. This theory has no fermion sign problem and can be simulated on the lattice using present-day techniques. We solve this theory analytically in two limits: low μI where chiral perturbation theory is applicable, and asymptotically high μI where perturbative QCD is at work. At low isospin density the ground state is a superfluid pion condensa...

We consider the problem of Bose condensation of charged pions in QCD at finite isospin chemical potential μI using the O(4)-symmetric linear sigma model as an effective field theory for twoflavor QCD. Using the 2PI 1/N-expansion, we determine the quasiparticle masses as well as the pion and chiral condensates as a function of the temperature and isospin chemical potential in the chiral limit an...
متن کاملThermodynamics of two-flavor lattice QCD with an improved Wilson quark action at non-zero temperature and density
We report the current status of our systematic studies of the QCD thermodynamics by lattice QCD simulations with two flavors of improved Wilson quarks. We evaluate the critical temperature of two flavor QCD in the chiral limit at zero chemical potential and show the preliminary result. Also we discuss fluctuations at none-zero temperature and density by calculating the quark number and isospin ...
